About Me

Jean has been an active and enthralled skater since she first skated in May 1971 at the Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink.  Some of her personal achievements – excluding her immense pride at seeing her present skaters succeed – in the National Ice Skating Association of Australia (now Ice Skating Australia Inc.) tests include: Preliminary Free Skating; Bronze School Figures; Inter-Gold Compulsory Ice Dance (equivalent of current Senior test) and 1st Free Dance test.  She was also the 1978 Sydney Ice Dance Preliminary Gold Medallist with Kevin Boroszky.

Qualifications

  • 2017: Assessed as compentent for Australian Sports Commission Assessor Training and Presenter/Facilitator Program
  • 2015: Qualified as Level 3 Accredited Coach for Singles
  • 2009: Qualified for Level 3 Accreditation Course when next offered by Ice Skating Australia Inc.
  • 1989: Achieved Level 2 Sports Specific Coaching Accreditation.
  • 1987: Achieved Level 2 General Principles Coaching Accreditation.
  • 1984: Achieved Level 1 Coaching Accreditation (when first introduced).

  • 2004: Hired ice time at Blacktown International Ice Arena and coaches to conduct the “Easter Edges”, a successful holiday skating program.
  • 2003 – 2008: Appointed as an APSA Accreditation Officer.
  • 2002: Coaching at the Glaciarium.
  • 2002: Co-Skate School Organiser at the Glaciarium. Duties included: rosters for skaters & skate patrol, supervising public skating sessions, zamboni driving (ice resurfacing) began to learn blade sharpening. Set up “Escape On Ice” Holiday Program for skaters.
  • 2001: First female coach to partner a female in student in an ISA dance test (Debbie Ward’s Elementary 2).
  • 1999: Marketing Manager at Macquarie Ice Rink. Duties of the Ice Skating Director plus advertising and banking.

  • 2010: Coach with Adam Hart and Paul Huehnergard (choreographer) of LCCFSS “Mini Saints” (Open), “Syncho Saints” (Open) and “Sync-On-Ice” (Adult).  I was a reserve skater for Sync-On-Ice.
  • 2010: Coach of LCCFSS Pre-Primary Ladies Champion (Emily Thomson).
  • 2010: Debbie Ward passes all her ISA Senior Dance tests.
  • 2009: Coach with Adam Hart, Alison Andersen and Paul Huehnergard (choreographer) of LCCFSS “Syncho Saints” NSW Open Champions and National Silver Medalists, synchronized skating.
  • 2008: Both Megan Lloyd and Debbie Ward start, and pass some of, the ISA Senior Ice Dance tests.
  • 2006: Two skaters pass ISA’s Junior Ice Dance Test: Megan Lloyd who I have coached through her entire career and Debbie Ward for her entire Ice Dance Career.
  • 2002: Formed “Team Glaci” Aussie Skate Team from the Glaciarium Ice Rink
  • 2002: Former student Natalie Taylor recognized with National Judge status after only one year of probationary judging.
  • 2001: Formed the Aussie Skater Syncho Team “Icicles” with Monica MacDonald.
  • 2000: Coach NSW Primary Ladies Bronze Medalist (Ines Lam), who also competed at the Nationals.
